ℹ️ These figures refer to the Les Sybelles ski area, which is shared by several resorts: kilometres of runs, number of runs, lifts and lift pass are common to all of them. The values shown here and on the pages of neighbouring resorts therefore refer to the same ski area and the same lift pass: they should not be added together.

Did you know?
Traditional village spread across hamlets facing the three Aiguilles d'Arves, Saint-Jean is one of the six resorts joined in 2003 to form the Sybelles, one of France's largest linked ski areas.
All the Sybelles lifts converge on the Ouillon (2,431 m), reputedly the highest grassy mountain in Europe — hence the vast, open, obstacle-free slopes of the ski area.

✍️ Our verdict on Saint-Jean-d'Arves

Saint-Jean-d'Arves is one of the rare resorts offering more than 310 km of runs — a colossal ski area that even the fastest skiers wouldn't cover in a week. With 61 lifts and 20 listed runs, it's a destination that can absorb all the tourist flows without ever feeling crowded. Saint-Jean-d'Arves has managed to preserve an authentic mountain village identity, far from the concrete resorts of the 1970s. Here, people come for the clean air, the unspoilt scenery and a human atmosphere that stands apart from the industrialisation of skiing in some large ski areas. With a summit at 2,620 m and a village at 1,200 m, snow reliability at Saint-Jean-d'Arves is generally good from January to the end of March. A few exceptionally mild winters can cause tensions early in the season, but conditions recover quickly once serious snowfalls arrive. The budget for a stay at Saint-Jean-d'Arves is clearly high: 59€ for a day lift pass, plus accommodation and mountain restaurants among the most expensive in the Alps. That's the price of excellence — but you should be aware of it before you go. In short: Saint-Jean-d'Arves lives up to its promises. A Northern Alps resort that will suit most profiles without disappointing.

🏔️ Les Sybelles

Six Maurienne resorts that merged their ski areas in 2003 around the Ouillon summit, instantly creating one of France's largest ski areas. La Toussuire, Le Corbier, Saint-Sorlin-d'Arves, Saint-Jean-d'Arves, Les Bottières and Saint-Colomban share the same lift pass and the same runs — it is impossible to tell where one ends and the next begins. It is a very sunny ski area, dominated by the silhouette of the Aiguilles d'Arves, with a majority of blue and red runs that make it an ideal place to progress as a family. Prices remain noticeably gentler than in the big Tarentaise resorts.
