✍️ Our verdict on La Toussuire

La Toussuire is one of the rare resorts offering more than 310 km of runs, a huge ski area that even the fastest skiers would not cover in a week. With 61 lifts and 35 listed runs, it is a destination that can absorb large numbers of visitors without ever feeling crowded. La Toussuire's family reputation is well deserved: dedicated beginner areas, a well-run childcare service, well-groomed green runs and a friendly atmosphere at the foot of the lifts. It is one of the most reassuring resorts in the Northern Alps for laying the foundations of skiing with children. With a summit at 2,620 m and a village at 1,750 m, snow reliability at La Toussuire is generally good from January to the end of March. A few exceptionally mild winters can cause difficulties early in the season, but conditions recover quickly once serious snowfalls arrive. A stay at La Toussuire is clearly on the expensive side: 59€ for a day lift pass, plus accommodation and mountain restaurants that are among the dearest in the Alps. It is the price of quality, but you should be aware of it before you go. In short, La Toussuire delivers on its promises. A resort in the Northern Alps that will suit most types of skier without disappointing.

🏔️ Les Sybelles

Six Maurienne resorts that merged their ski areas in 2003 around the Ouillon summit, instantly creating one of France's largest ski areas. La Toussuire, Le Corbier, Saint-Sorlin-d'Arves, Saint-Jean-d'Arves, Les Bottières and Saint-Colomban share the same lift pass and the same runs — it is impossible to tell where one ends and the next begins. It is a very sunny ski area, dominated by the silhouette of the Aiguilles d'Arves, with a majority of blue and red runs that make it an ideal place to progress as a family. Prices remain noticeably gentler than in the big Tarentaise resorts.
