Did you know?
The village's first drag lift, a 'télétraîneau' installed at Christmas 1937, still exists: displayed in front of the town hall, it was restored by a handful of enthusiasts and still glides down in winter.
The village is also home to the Maison des Contes de Fées, an offbeat museum populated with animated scenes and characters staged with light effects.
The resort is part of the Espace Diamant, which links six village-resorts of the Val d'Arly and Beaufortain for skiing (around 192 km of runs).

✍️ Our verdict on Notre-Dame-de-Bellecombe

Notre-Dame-de-Bellecombe offers 90 km of well-marked runs: an intermediate-sized ski area that's ideal for spending 4 to 5 days without ever doing exactly the same thing twice. The 36 lifts are generally sufficient to handle the flow in high season. Notre-Dame-de-Bellecombe's family reputation is well deserved: dedicated beginner areas, a well-run childcare service, well-groomed green runs and a good-natured atmosphere at the foot of the lifts. It's one of the most reassuring resorts in the Northern Alps for laying the foundations of skiing with children. Notre-Dame-de-Bellecombe's altitude (1,150 m at the base, 2,070 m at the top) helps it maintain decent snow cover in mid-winter. January and February are the most reliable months; in December and March, it's worth checking conditions before finalising a booking. The 41€ day lift pass places Notre-Dame-de-Bellecombe among the mid-range resorts on price: neither cheap nor overpriced. The quality of the ski area and its facilities justifies the price for most skiers. In short: Notre-Dame-de-Bellecombe is one of those rare resorts that combines a real village, a sincere family atmosphere and runs suited to everyone. It's hard to have a bad stay here.

🏔️ Espace Diamant

The youngest of the large French ski areas, born in 2005 from the alliance of the Beaufortain and the Val d'Arly. Les Saisies, Crest-Voland, Notre-Dame-de-Bellecombe, Flumet, Praz-sur-Arly and Hauteluce share 192 km of runs between 910 and 2,069 m. It is a modest-altitude ski area but renowned for its snow reliability: Les Saisies catches the weather systems coming from the west and regularly records snowfall totals among the best in the Northern Alps. The atmosphere is resolutely village and family-oriented, far from the factory resorts, with wide runs through spruce forest and a constant view of Mont Blanc.
