This authentic Savoyard village at 1,113 m is as well known for its chic atmosphere and pedestrian centre as for its skiing (325 km with the Pays du Mont-Blanc). Based on the resort's altitude and historical snow reliability
The Megève ski area, with its 230 km of runs, offers a good choice for every type of skier: large enough not to get bored over a week, yet compact enough to easily find your favourite sectors again. The 62 lifts make it possible to chain descents without long queues. Megève's DNA is high-end: the accommodation, the mountain restaurants and the resort services reflect a clientele that doesn't count the cost. With a day lift pass at 65€, the stay comes at a price, but the experience lives up to it for anyone who wants to indulge without compromise. Megève's altitude (1,113 m at the base, 2,350 m at the top) helps it maintain decent snow cover through midwinter. January and February are the most reliable; in December and March, it's worth checking conditions before finalising a booking. The budget for a stay in Megève is clearly high: 65€ for a day lift pass, plus accommodation and mountain restaurants among the most expensive in the Alps. It's the price of excellence — but be aware of it before you go. In short: Megève isn't for everyone, but for those who can afford it, it's probably one of the best skiing experiences in Europe.
🏔️ Évasion Mont-Blanc
Megève, Saint-Gervais, Combloux, La Giettaz and Les Contamines-Montjoie, joined together at the foot of the roof of Europe. Megève, created in the 1920s by the Baroness de Rothschild, who wanted a French Saint-Moritz, remains the resort of French elegance: a medieval village, horse-drawn carriages, Michelin-starred tables. Skiing here is rather gentle, on long runs through the forest with generous sun exposure. One nuance: of the 445 km announced by the lift pass, only 263 km are actually linked by lifts; Les Contamines and Cordon require a transfer. The panorama of Mont Blanc, however, is constant.
