ℹ️ These figures refer to the Portes du Mont-Blanc (Combloux – Megève Jaillet – La Giettaz – Cordon) ski area, shared by several resorts: kilometres of runs, number of runs, lifts and lift pass are common to all. The values shown here and on the neighbouring resort pages therefore refer to the same ski area and the same lift pass: they don’t add up.
La Giettaz is a small village-resort in the Aravis at 1,100 m, part of the Espace Diamant ski area (155 km with Crest-Voland, Flumet…). A rural, authentic setting, very little visited. Ideal for relaxed skiing in beautiful scenery, with views of Mont Blanc.
- Linked to Megève and Aravis
- Authentic pastoral village
- Very affordable lift passes
Based on the resort's altitude and historical snow reliability
La Giettaz is a modest, low-key resort — 20 km of runs for an intimate skiing experience, far from the bustle of the big resorts. This is where you come for calm, authenticity and no queues at the lifts. La Giettaz's reputation as a family resort is well deserved: dedicated beginner areas, a well-run childcare service, well-groomed green runs and a friendly atmosphere at the foot of the lifts. It is one of the most reassuring resorts in the Northern Alps for laying the foundations of skiing with children. La Giettaz's altitude (1,123 m at the base, 2,440 m at the top) helps it maintain decent snow cover in the middle of winter. January and February are the most reliable months; in December and March, it is worth checking conditions before finalising a booking. The budget for a stay in La Giettaz is clearly high: €52 for a day lift pass, plus accommodation and mountain restaurants that are among the most expensive in the Alps. It is the price of excellence — but you should be aware of it before you set off. In short: La Giettaz is one of those rare resorts that combines a real village, a sincere family atmosphere and runs suited to everyone. It is hard to have a bad stay here.
🏔️ Évasion Mont-Blanc
Megève, Saint-Gervais, Combloux, La Giettaz and Les Contamines-Montjoie, joined together at the foot of the roof of Europe. Megève, created in the 1920s by the Baroness de Rothschild, who wanted a French Saint-Moritz, remains the resort of French elegance: a medieval village, horse-drawn carriages, Michelin-starred tables. Skiing here is rather gentle, on long runs through the forest with generous sun exposure. One nuance: of the 445 km announced by the lift pass, only 263 km are actually linked by lifts; Les Contamines and Cordon require a transfer. The panorama of Mont Blanc, however, is constant.
