Did you know?
Every March since 1986, the resort hosts the Pierra Menta, the most legendary ski mountaineering race in the world: four days of ascents in teams of two on the slopes of the Grand-Mont, backed by a whole village and hundreds of volunteers.
The race takes its name from the Pierra Menta, a spectacular 150 m rock tooth dominating the Beaufortain. Legend has it that the giant Gargantua, crossing the massif, dropped this block along the way.
Here too we are in Beaufort country, the 'prince of Gruyères': the farms pool their milk twice a day to make the cheese at the cooperative.

✍️ Our view of Arêches-Beaufort

A resort on a human scale, Arêches-Beaufort prioritises the quality of its welcome and its closeness rather than impressive figures. Its 50 km of pistes are ideal for a 3 to 4 day stay, especially for families or skiers who don't need to constantly change their playground. The technical terrain is king at Arêches-Beaufort: with 7 black runs and 14 red runs on offer, confident skiers will find plenty to challenge them. Off-piste and freeride are practised here in often excellent conditions thanks to the altitude and the exposure of the slopes. The altitude of Arêches-Beaufort (1,080 m at the bottom, 2,300 m at the top) allows it to keep a decent snow cover in midwinter. January and February are the most reliable months; in December and March, it is best to check conditions before finalising a booking. The 39€ day lift pass places Arêches-Beaufort among the mid-range resorts on price: neither cheap nor exorbitant. The quality of the ski area and facilities justifies this price for most skiers. In short: Arêches-Beaufort keeps its promises. A Northern Alps resort that will suit most profiles without disappointing.
