About Hauteluce

Hauteluce is a village in the Beaufortain at 1,150 m, with 50 km of runs linked to Les Saisies. Its baroque church and Savoyard chalets make it one of the most beautiful villages in Savoy. A family resort in a protected mountain setting, with views of Mont Blanc.

Did you know?
The village is a stop on the 'Chemins du Baroque' (Baroque Trails): its church of Saint-Jacques d'Assyrie, listed as a historic monument, features an onion-dome bell tower, trompe-l'œil painting on the facade, a canopied altarpiece and a walnut pulpit.
In the centre of the village stands a spectacular lime tree planted during the Revolution — so it is more than two centuries old.
Hauteluce is unusual in opening onto two distinct ski areas: Les Saisies and the Espace Diamant on one side, the col du Joly and Les Contamines on the other.

✍️ Our verdict on Hauteluce

Hauteluce offers 83 km of well-marked runs — a mid-sized ski area ideal for spending 4 to 5 days without ever doing exactly the same thing twice. The 31 lifts are generally sufficient to handle the crowds in peak season. Hauteluce's family reputation is well deserved: dedicated beginner areas, well-groomed green runs and a friendly atmosphere at the foot of the lifts. It is one of the most reassuring resorts in the Northern Alps for laying the groundwork for skiing with children. Hauteluce's altitude (1,150 m at the base, 2,000 m at the top) helps it maintain a decent snow cover in the depths of winter. January and February are the most reliable; in December and March, it is best to check conditions before finalising a booking. The 46€ day lift pass puts Hauteluce among the intermediate resorts on budget — neither cheap nor exorbitant. The quality of the ski area and facilities justifies this price for most skiers. In short: Hauteluce is one of those rare resorts that combines a real village, a sincere family atmosphere and runs suited to everyone. It is hard to go wrong with a stay here.

🏔️ Espace Diamant

The youngest of the large French ski areas, born in 2005 from the alliance of the Beaufortain and the Val d'Arly. Les Saisies, Crest-Voland, Notre-Dame-de-Bellecombe, Flumet, Praz-sur-Arly and Hauteluce share 192 km of runs between 910 and 2,069 m. It is a modest-altitude ski area but renowned for its snow reliability: Les Saisies catches the weather systems coming from the west and regularly records snowfall totals among the best in the Northern Alps. The atmosphere is resolutely village and family-oriented, far from the factory resorts, with wide runs through spruce forest and a constant view of Mont Blanc.
