Practical information

Les Saisies is a ski resort in the Northern Alps massif, in Beaufortain, Savoie. The ski area covers 200 km of pistes between 1,650 m and 2,070 m, served by 81 lifts. Day lift pass 46€ per adult.

ℹ️ These figures refer to the Les Saisies – Hauteluce ski area, which is shared by several resorts: distance of runs, number of runs, lifts and lift pass are common. The values shown here and on the pages of neighbouring resorts therefore refer to the same ski area and the same lift pass: they are not added together.

About Les Saisies

Les Saisies is an unusual resort at 1,650 m on a panoramic plateau in the Beaufortain. Known for its 150 km of alpine skiing and its vast Nordic ski area, it hosted the cross-country skiing and biathlon events of the 1992 Albertville Olympic Games. The view of Mont Blanc from the runs is spectacular.

Did you know?
On 1 August 1944, the Col des Saisies was the scene of one of the largest weapons airdrops of the French Resistance: in broad daylight, dozens of American B17 bombers dropped nearly 900 containers to arm the Beaufortain maquis of Captain Bulle. A monument commemorates the operation.
The plateau hosted the cross-country skiing and biathlon events of the 1992 Albertville Winter Olympics — and it is the stronghold of the Piccard family: Franck Piccard, a local, became in 1988 in Calgary the very first Olympic super-G champion in history.

Based on the resort's altitude and historical snow reliability

✍️ Our view of Les Saisies

Les Saisies offers 83 km of well-marked pistes — a mid-sized ski area ideal for a 4 to 5-day stay without ever doing exactly the same run twice. The 31 lifts are generally sufficient to handle the flow in high season. Les Saisies' family reputation is well earned: dedicated beginner areas, a well-run childcare service, well-groomed green runs and a friendly atmosphere at the foot of the lifts. It is one of the most reassuring resorts of the Northern Alps for laying the foundations of skiing with children. Les Saisies' altitude (1,650 m at the base, 2,070 m at the top) allows it to maintain decent snow cover in mid-winter. January and February are the most reliable; in December and March, it's best to check conditions before finalising a booking. At 46€ for a day pass, Les Saisies sits in the intermediate category on budget — neither cheap nor exorbitant. The quality of the ski area and facilities justifies this price for most skiers. In short: Les Saisies keeps its promises well. A resort of the Northern Alps that will suit most profiles without disappointing.

🏔️ Espace Diamant

The youngest of the large French ski areas, born in 2005 from the alliance of the Beaufortain and the Val d'Arly. Les Saisies, Crest-Voland, Notre-Dame-de-Bellecombe, Flumet, Praz-sur-Arly and Hauteluce share 192 km of runs between 910 and 2,069 m. It is a modest-altitude ski area but renowned for its snow reliability: Les Saisies catches the weather systems coming from the west and regularly records snowfall totals among the best in the Northern Alps. The atmosphere is resolutely village and family-oriented, far from the factory resorts, with wide runs through spruce forest and a constant view of Mont Blanc.
