ℹ️ These figures refer to the Grandvalira ski area, shared by several resorts: kilometres of runs, number of runs, lifts and lift pass are common to all of them. The values shown here and on the pages of neighbouring resorts therefore refer to the same ski area and the same lift pass: they are not added together.
The 215 km, 74 lifts and lift pass figures given are those of the entire Grandvalira ski area, shared by its six sectors (Pas de la Casa, Grau Roig, Soldeu, El Tarter, Canillo and Encamp). Grau Roig is not a village but a sector of Grandvalira, at 2,100 m, between Pas de la Casa and Soldeu. A few hotels are set at the foot of the slopes, making it a quiet base, away from the buzz of the villages. The sector opens onto the Pessons cirque and its high-altitude lakes, a high-mountain setting much loved for snowshoeing as well as skiing.

Based on the resort's altitude and historical snow reliability
The Grau Roig ski area, with its 215 km of runs, offers a fine choice for every type of skier: large enough not to go round in circles for a week, yet compact enough to find your favourite sectors easily. The 74 lifts let you link descents without long waits. Grau Roig's family reputation is well deserved: dedicated beginner areas, well-groomed green runs and a friendly atmosphere at the foot of the lifts. It is one of the most reassuring resorts in the Pyrenees for laying the foundations of skiing with children. With a summit at 2,640 m and a village at 2,100 m, Grau Roig's snow reliability is generally dependable from January to the end of March. A few exceptionally mild winters can cause tension early in the season, but the situation improves quickly with the first serious snowfalls. The budget for a stay in Grau Roig is clearly high: 69€ for a day lift pass, on top of which come accommodation and mountain restaurants among the most expensive in the Alps. It is the price of excellence, but you should be aware of it before setting off. In short, Grau Roig delivers on its promises. A Pyrenean resort that will suit most skiers without disappointing.
🏔️ Grandvalira
Grandvalira is the largest ski area in the Pyrenees: 215 km of runs between 1710 and 2,640 m, linking from east to west Pas de la Casa, on the French border, Grau Roig, Soldeu and El Tarter, while Canillo and Encamp are reached by gondola from the valley. The area hosted the Alpine Skiing World Cup finals in 2019 on the Avet run at Soldeu. Each sector has its own personality, from the lively, technical Pas de la Casa to the more family-friendly El Tarter, and Andorra adds its own perks: plenty of accommodation and duty-free shops.
