The values shown here and on the pages of neighbouring resorts therefore refer to the same ski area and the same lift pass: they are not added together.
Val Thorens is Europe's highest resort at 2,300 m, at the top of the 3 Vallées (600 km). This altitude guarantees good-quality snow from November to May. A modern, lively and very busy resort, it is popular with young skiers thanks to its many bars and clubs at the foot of the slopes. Its own ski area has 85 runs over 150 km.

Based on the resort's altitude and historical snow reliability
The Val Thorens ski area, with its 150 km of runs, offers a strong choice for every type of skier: large enough not to go round in circles for a week, yet compact enough to find your favourite sectors easily. The 39 lifts let you link descents without long queues. The resort is known for its lively après-ski: bars, concerts at the foot of the slopes, an international atmosphere as soon as the lifts close. If you want to enjoy the mountain by day as much as the evenings, Val Thorens is clearly one of the best options in its massif. As for snow reliability, Val Thorens is in a strong position with its highest point at 3,230 m: even in capricious winters, the upper runs hold well until April. The village at 2,300 m is also well placed to offer comfortable conditions from mid-December. Budget-wise, a stay in Val Thorens is clearly high: the day lift pass costs 74€, on top of accommodation and mountain restaurants among the most expensive in the Alps. It's the price of excellence, but be aware of it before you go. In short: Val Thorens lives up to its promises. A resort in the Northern Alps that will suit most skiers without disappointing.
🏔️ Les 3 Vallées
The largest ski area in the world, and that's not just a slogan: 600 km of runs that link up without ever needing the car, from Courchevel to Val Thorens via Méribel and Les Menuires. Originally three valleys – Saint-Bon, Allues, Belleville – joined by Orelle on the Maurienne side. This is the kingdom of high-altitude skiing: Val Thorens peaks at 2,300 m in the village, the Cime Caron tops 3,200 m, and the snow lasts from November to May. Each resort has its own distinct personality, from the unapologetic luxury of Courchevel 1850 to the family spirit of Les Menuires. Plan on several days: nobody skis around the whole area in a single day.
