Practical information

La Tania is a ski resort in the Northern Alps, in the 3 Vallées, Savoie. The ski area stretches over 25 km of pistes between 1,350 m and 2,732 m, served by 6 lifts. Day lift pass 77€ per adult.

* Price per adult for 1 day, public high-season rate. Reduced rates (online purchase, outside school holidays, families, children, seniors) are generally offered by the resort.

ℹ️ These figures relate to the Vallée de Courchevel (Courchevel – La Tania) ski area, which is shared by several resorts: kilometres of runs, number of runs, lifts and lift pass are common to all of them. The values shown here and on the pages of neighbouring resorts therefore refer to the same ski area and the same lift pass: they should not be added together.

About La Tania

La Tania is a small car-free resort built for the 1992 Albertville Olympics, nestled in the forest at 1,400 m between Courchevel and Méribel. Its few local runs, winding through the spruce forest, reach the Col de la Loze and the Three Valleys (600 km) via two lifts. Ideal for families looking for calm and authenticity, far from the crowds.

Did you know?
It is the newest arrival in the 3 Vallées: it rose out of the forest at the end of the 1980s, was inaugurated in 1990-91, and then served as an annexe Olympic village during the 1992 Albertville Games, housing athletes and journalists.
Its architecture is the work of Jacques Labro, the same architect behind Avoriaz. Its name comes from the hamlet of La Tagna, which is said to mean "the bear's den" in Savoyard patois.

✍️ Our verdict on La Tania

La Tania is a low-key resort on a modest scale: 25 km of pistes for an intimate skiing experience, far from the bustle of the big resorts. This is where you come for calm, authenticity and no queues at the lifts. La Tania's family reputation is well deserved: dedicated beginner areas, a well-run childcare service, well-groomed green runs and a friendly atmosphere at the foot of the lifts. It is one of the most reassuring resorts in the Northern Alps for laying the foundations of skiing with children. With a summit at 2,732 m and a village at 1,350 m, snow reliability at La Tania is generally good from January to the end of March. A few exceptionally mild winters can cause strains early in the season, but the situation recovers quickly once serious snowfall arrives. A stay at La Tania is clearly expensive: €77 for a day lift pass, plus accommodation and mountain restaurants that are among the most expensive in the Alps. It is the price of excellence, but you should be aware of it before you go. In short: La Tania is one of those rare resorts that combines a genuine village, a sincere family atmosphere and runs suited to everyone. It is hard to go wrong with a stay here.

🏔️ Les 3 Vallées

The largest ski area in the world, and that's not just a slogan: 600 km of runs that link up without ever needing the car, from Courchevel to Val Thorens via Méribel and Les Menuires. Originally three valleys – Saint-Bon, Allues, Belleville – joined by Orelle on the Maurienne side. This is the kingdom of high-altitude skiing: Val Thorens peaks at 2,300 m in the village, the Cime Caron tops 3,200 m, and the snow lasts from November to May. Each resort has its own distinct personality, from the unapologetic luxury of Courchevel 1850 to the family spirit of Les Menuires. Plan on several days: nobody skis around the whole area in a single day.
