Valfréjus is a ski resort in the Northern Alps, in the Maurienne, Savoie. The ski area covers 70 km of runs between 1,550 m and 2,737 m, served by 9 lifts. Day lift pass 44€ per adult.
* Price per adult for 1 day, public high-season rate. Reduced rates (online purchase, outside school holidays, families, children, seniors) are generally offered by the resort.
The day lift pass is shared with La Norma: a single pass gives access to both ski areas, a total of 135 km of runs. The kilometres and runs shown here refer only to the Valfréjus sector. From 6 days, this pass also includes one day in each of the four other resorts of the Espace Haute Maurienne Vanoise (Aussois, Val Cenis, Bessans and Bonneval-sur-Arc). Valfréjus is a modern resort at 1,550 m in the Maurienne, built in the 1980s above Modane. Its 52 km ski area is little visited despite a good altitude (2,737 m) and reliable snow. Easy access by motorway and train from Turin. Good value for money.
- Stunning views of the Vanoise
- Family resort, little visited
- Varied, technical ski area
Based on the resort's altitude and historical snow reliability
A resort on a human scale, Valfréjus prides itself on the quality of its welcome and its closeness rather than on impressive figures. Its 70 km of runs are perfect for a 3 to 4 day stay, especially for families or skiers who don't need to constantly change their playground. Valfréjus has managed to preserve the identity of an authentic mountain village, far from the concrete resorts of the 1970s. Here, people come for the clean air, the unspoilt landscapes and a friendly atmosphere that stands apart from the industrialisation of skiing in some large ski areas. With a summit at 2,737m and a village at 1,550m, Valfréjus's snow cover is generally reliable from January to the end of March. A few exceptionally mild winters can cause tension early in the season, but the situation recovers quickly once serious snowfalls arrive. The day lift pass at 44€ places Valfréjus among the mid-range resorts on budget: neither cheap nor exorbitant. The quality of the ski area and facilities justifies the price for most skiers. In short: Valfréjus lives up to its promises. A resort in the Northern Alps that should suit most profiles without disappointing.
