Based on the resort's altitude and historical snow reliability
Schladming offers 123 km of well-marked runs — an intermediate-sized ski area that's ideal for spending 4 to 5 days without ever doing exactly the same thing twice. The 47 lifts are generally sufficient to handle the crowds in high season. Schladming's family reputation is well deserved: dedicated beginner areas, a well-organised childcare service, well-groomed green runs and a friendly atmosphere at the foot of the lifts. It is one of the most reassuring resorts in the Northern Alps for laying the foundations of skiing with children. Schladming's altitude (745 m at the bottom, 2,015 m at the top) allows it to maintain decent snow reliability in the depths of winter. January and February are the most reliable months; in December and March, it is worth checking conditions before finalising a booking. The budget for a stay in Schladming is clearly high: 79€ for a day lift pass, plus accommodation and mountain restaurants among the most expensive in the Alps. It is the price of excellence — but you should be aware of it before setting off. In short: Schladming lives up to its promises. A resort in the Northern Alps that will suit most skiers without disappointing.
