Did you know?
You ski between two countries: the cross-border Espace San Bernardo ski area links La Rosière with La Thuile, in Italy, via the Petit-Saint-Bernard pass. The ski link has operated since 1984, while the road over the pass is closed all winter.
The Petit-Saint-Bernard pass (2,188 m) is steeped in history: an Iron Age stone circle can still be seen there, and a Roman road once crossed it... According to legend, Hannibal and his elephants passed through in 218 BC on their march on Rome.

✍️ Our view of La Rosière

A resort on a human scale, La Rosière focuses on the quality of its welcome and its closeness rather than on impressive figures. Its 65 km of runs are ideal for a stay of 3 to 4 days, especially with family or for skiers who do not need to constantly change their playground. La Rosière's family reputation is well deserved: dedicated beginner areas, a well-run childcare service, well-maintained green runs and a friendly atmosphere at the foot of the lifts. It is one of the most reassuring resorts in the Northern Alps for laying the foundations of skiing with children. With a summit at 2,809 m and a village at 1,850 m, snow reliability at La Rosière is generally dependable from January to the end of March. A few exceptionally mild winters can create tension early in the season, but conditions recover quickly with the first significant snowfalls. A stay in La Rosière is clearly expensive: a 55€ day lift pass, plus accommodation and high-altitude restaurants that are among the most expensive in the Alps. It is the price of excellence, but you should be aware of it before you go. In short, La Rosière keeps its promises. A Northern Alps resort that will suit the majority of skiers without disappointing.

🏔️ Espace San Bernardo

La Rosière on the French side, La Thuile on the Italian side, linked by the Petit-Saint-Bernard pass — the same one Hannibal crossed with his elephants, legend has it. It is the only international ski area in the Northern Alps, and one of the rare places where you can have a plate of pasta in the Aosta Valley before heading back to ski in Savoie in the afternoon. La Rosière faces due south, across from the Mont Blanc massif, with remarkable sunshine; La Thuile is shadier and steeper, with the famous Franco Berthod run that hosts the Women's World Cup. Wind at the pass: the link sometimes closes.
