La Joue du Loup is a ski resort in the Southern Alps range, in the Hautes-Alpes. The ski area covers 100 km of runs between 1,450 m and 2,464 m, served by 22 lifts. Day lift pass 44€ per adult.
* Price per adult for 1 day, public high-season rate. Reduced rates (online purchase, outside school holidays, families, children, seniors) are generally offered by the resort.
ℹ️ These figures apply to the Dévoluy (Superdévoluy – La Joue du Loup) ski area, which is shared by several resorts: kilometres of runs, number of runs, lifts and lift pass are common to all of them. The figures shown here and on the pages of neighbouring resorts therefore refer to the same ski area and the same lift pass: they are not added together.
La Joue du Loup is a family resort at 1,400 m in the Dévoluy, with 60 km of runs. The ski area enjoys good snow thanks to the natural setting of the Dévoluy, a wild limestone massif. Breathtaking views of the Obiou (2,789 m) and the karst plateaus. Good value for money.
Based on the resort's altitude and historical snow reliability
La Joue du Loup offers 100 km of well-marked runs, a mid-sized ski area that is ideal for spending 4 to 5 days without ever doing exactly the same thing twice. The 22 lifts are generally sufficient to cope with the flow of skiers in high season. La Joue du Loup's family reputation is well deserved: dedicated beginner areas, a well-run childcare service, well-groomed green runs and a friendly atmosphere at the foot of the lifts. It is one of the most reassuring resorts in the Southern Alps for teaching children the basics of skiing. The altitude of La Joue du Loup (1,450 m at the base, 2,464 m at the top) helps it maintain decent snow cover through the depths of winter. January and February are the most reliable months; in December and March, it is best to check conditions before finalising a booking. At 44€ for a day lift pass, La Joue du Loup sits in the mid-range bracket for budget: neither cheap nor exorbitant. The quality of the ski area and its facilities justifies this price for most skiers. In short, La Joue du Loup keeps its promises. A Southern Alps resort that will suit most profiles without disappointing.
🏔️ Le Dévoluy
Superdévoluy and La Joue du Loup share 100 km of runs in the Dévoluy massif, between the Vercors and the Southern Alps: a wild, mineral limestone cirque that looks like nothing else in the Alps. The area peaks at 2,500 m and enjoys snow reliability often better than its latitude would suggest, thanks to weather systems that break against the cliffs. Superdévoluy embraces its 1960s concrete architecture; La Joue du Loup, built twenty years later in wood and stone, is distinctly more appealing. Prices remain among the gentlest in the Alps for an area of this size.
