Did you know?
It is the eldest resort in the Champsaur: born in the mid-1950s (first drag lift, des Taillas, in 1956), it was the valley's first ski resort and was quickly adopted by people from Marseille and Gap.
The village is much older than its runs: its first written mention dates back to the year 739, in the will of Abbon, a Gallo-Roman aristocrat.

✍️ Our verdict on Ancelle

A resort on a human scale, Ancelle prioritises the quality of its welcome and its closeness rather than impressive figures. Its 30 km of runs are ideal for a stay of 3 to 4 days, especially with family or for skiers who don't need to constantly renew their playground. Ancelle's family reputation is well earned: dedicated beginner areas, a well-run childcare service, well-groomed green runs and a good-natured atmosphere at the foot of the lifts. It is one of the most reassuring resorts in the Southern Alps for laying the foundations of skiing with children. Ancelle's moderate altitude — starting at 1,350 m, with a summit at 1,800 m — makes it sensitive to climate variations. January and February remain the safest months for optimal snow cover. Outside this window, checking the snow reports before you leave is strongly recommended. The day lift pass at €31 remains reasonable for the quality of the ski area on offer. Counting accommodation, skiing and meals, Ancelle suits those who want to enjoy a good week without the final bill knocking them off their chairs. In short: Ancelle is one of those rare resorts that combines a real village, a sincerely family atmosphere and runs suited to everyone. It's hard to have a bad stay here.
