Formigal is a ski resort in the Pyrenees range, in the Tena Valley, Aragon, Spain 🇪🇸. The ski area stretches over 143 km of runs between 1,510 m and 2,265 m, served by 21 lifts. Day lift pass 62€ per adult.
* Price per adult for 1 day, public high-season rate. Reduced rates (online purchase, outside school holidays, families, children, seniors) are generally offered by the resort.
The 'Formigal-Panticosa' lift pass is shared with Panticosa: one ticket gives access to both ski areas, a combined 182 km of runs. The two resorts are not, however, linked by skis, so you have to drive between them. The distances and runs shown here relate to Formigal only. Formigal is the main resort of the Tena Valley, in the municipality of Sallent de Gállego, in the Aragonese Pyrenees. Opened in 1965, it spreads between 1510 and 2,265 m over four valleys (Sextas, Izas, Anayet and Portalet), the latter sector reaching the French border at the col du Pourtalet. A large, varied ski area geared more towards confident skiers, with 36 black runs, it is also known for its lively après-ski at the foot of the slopes.
- 143 km across four valleys
- Portalet sector on the French border
- One of Spain's liveliest après-ski scenes
Based on the resort's altitude and historical snow reliability
Formigal offers 143 km of well-marked runs: a mid-sized ski area, ideal for spending 4 to 5 days without ever doing exactly the same thing twice. The 21 lifts are generally enough to handle the flow in high season. Formigal's family reputation is well deserved: dedicated beginner areas, a well-run childcare service, well-groomed green runs and a friendly atmosphere at the foot of the lifts. It is one of the most reassuring resorts in the Pyrenees for getting children started on skiing. Formigal's altitude (1,510 m at the bottom, 2,265 m at the top) helps it keep a decent snow cover in midwinter. January and February are the most reliable; in December and March, it is worth checking conditions before finalising a booking. A stay in Formigal is clearly on the expensive side: a day lift pass at 62€, plus accommodation and mountain restaurants among the most expensive in the Alps. It's the price of excellence, but you should be aware of it before you go. In short: Formigal keeps its promises. A Pyrenean resort that will suit most types of skier without disappointing.
