Did you know?
The resort was born from a remarkable wave of solidarity: after the devastating floods of June 1957, the magazine Elle largely funded the village's first two snow tows and pairs of skis handed out to children. The village resort started out this way, in 1958.
The village is home to two churches listed as historic monuments: Sainte-Cécile (14th century) and Saint-Sébastien (16th century), with its bell tower of six bells and its frescoes.

✍️ Our verdict on Ceillac-en-Queyras

Ceillac-en-Queyras is a small, low-key resort with 14 km of runs, offering an intimate skiing experience far from the bustle of the big resorts. This is where people come for calm, authenticity and no queues at the lifts at all. Ceillac-en-Queyras has kept the identity of an authentic mountain village, far from the concrete resorts of the 1970s. People come here for the clean air, the unspoiled landscapes and a friendly atmosphere that stands in contrast to the industrialisation of skiing in some large ski areas. The altitude of Ceillac-en-Queyras (1,640 m at the base, 2,450 m at the top) allows it to maintain reasonable snow cover in the depths of winter. January and February are the most reliable months; in December and March, it is best to check conditions before finalising a booking. With a day lift pass at just 20€, Ceillac-en-Queyras is one of the most affordable destinations in France. For families on a tight budget or skiers who want to make the most of their days without breaking the bank, it is a sincere and often overlooked choice. In short: Ceillac-en-Queyras does not rival the giants of skiing, and does not pretend to. It is an honest destination, often underrated, that deserves to be discovered (or rediscovered).
