Based on the resort's altitude and historical snow reliability
A resort on a human scale, Saint-Véran relies on the quality of its welcome and its closeness rather than impressive figures. Its 35 km of pistes suit a stay of 3 to 4 days perfectly, especially for families or skiers who don't need to constantly renew their playground. Saint-Véran has kept the identity of an authentic mountain village, far from the concrete resorts of the 1970s. People come here for the clean air, the unspoiled landscapes and a friendly atmosphere that stands apart from the industrialisation of skiing in some large areas. With a summit at 2,830 m and a village at 1,740 m, snow reliability at Saint-Véran is generally good from January to the end of March. A few exceptionally mild winters can cause tension early in the season, but the situation recovers quickly once serious snowfalls arrive. At €40, the day lift pass places Saint-Véran among the mid-range resorts on price: neither cheap nor exorbitant. The quality of the area and facilities justifies the price for most skiers. In short: Saint-Véran does not compete with the giants of skiing, and does not pretend to. It is an honest destination, often underrated, that deserves to be (re)discovered.
