✍️ Our verdict on Selva di Val Gardena

The Selva di Val Gardena ski area, with its 181 km of runs, offers a fine range for every type of skier: large enough not to go round in circles for a week, yet compact enough to find your favourite sectors easily. The 78 lifts let you link runs without long queues. Selva di Val Gardena has managed to keep an authentic mountain-village identity, far from the concrete resorts of the 1970s. People come here for the clean air, the unspoilt scenery and a warm, friendly atmosphere that stands apart from the industrial side of skiing in some large ski areas. With a summit at 2,518 m and a village at 1,563 m, snow reliability at Selva di Val Gardena is generally good from January to late March. A few exceptionally mild winters can cause snow shortages early in the season, but the situation recovers quickly once serious snowfalls arrive. The budget for a stay at Selva di Val Gardena is clearly high: 80€ for a day lift pass, plus accommodation and mountain restaurants that are among the most expensive in the Alps. It is the price of excellence — but be aware of it before you go. In short: Selva di Val Gardena lives up to its promises. A resort in the Northern Alps that will suit most skiers without disappointing.
