✍️ Our verdict on Ortisei

The Ortisei ski area, with its 181 km of runs, offers a good choice for every type of skier: large enough not to go round in circles for a week, yet compact enough to find your favourite sectors easily. The 78 lifts let you link descents without long queues. Ortisei has kept the authentic identity of a mountain village, far from the concrete resorts of the 1970s. People come here for the clean air, the unspoiled landscapes and a friendly atmosphere that stands apart from the industrialisation of skiing in some large ski areas. With a summit at 2,518 m and a village at 1,236 m, snow reliability in Ortisei is generally good from January to the end of March. A few exceptionally mild winters can cause strains early in the season, but the situation improves quickly with the first substantial snowfalls. The budget for a stay in Ortisei is clearly high: 80€ for a day lift pass, plus accommodation and mountain restaurants that are among the most expensive in the Alps. It is the price of excellence, but you should be aware of it before you go. In short, Ortisei keeps its promises. A Northern Alps resort that will suit most skiers without disappointing.
