Based on the resort's altitude and historical snow reliability
Schwemmalm is a small, low-key resort: 27 km of runs for an intimate skiing experience, far from the bustle of the big resorts. It's here that people come for calm, authenticity and no queues at the lifts. Schwemmalm's family reputation is well earned: dedicated beginner areas, well-groomed green runs and a friendly atmosphere at the foot of the lifts. It's one of the most reassuring resorts in the Northern Alps for learning to ski with children. With a summit at 2,625 m and a village at 1,505 m, Schwemmalm's snow reliability is generally dependable from January to the end of March. A few exceptionally mild winters can cause tension early in the season, but the situation recovers quickly once serious snowfalls arrive. The budget for a stay in Schwemmalm is clearly high: 56€ for a day lift pass, plus accommodation and mountain restaurants among the most expensive in the Alps. It's the price of excellence, but be aware of it before you set off. In short: Schwemmalm doesn't rival the giants of skiing and doesn't pretend to. It's an honest, often underrated destination that deserves to be (re)discovered.
