Based on the resort's altitude and historical snow reliability
A resort on a human scale, Meran 2000 focuses on the quality of its welcome and its closeness rather than on impressive figures. Its 40 km of runs are a good fit for a stay of 3 to 4 days, especially with family or for skiers who do not need to keep changing terrain. Meran 2000's family reputation is well deserved: dedicated beginner areas, a well-run childcare service, well-groomed green runs and a friendly atmosphere at the foot of the lifts. It is one of the most reassuring resorts in the Northern Alps for learning to ski with children. Meran 2000's altitude (1,609 m at the bottom, 2,350 m at the top) helps it maintain decent snow cover in midwinter. January and February are the most reliable months; in December and March, it is worth checking conditions before finalising a booking. A stay at Meran 2000 is clearly on the expensive side: 61€ for a day lift pass, plus accommodation and mountain restaurants among the most expensive in the Alps. It is the price of excellence, but it is best to be aware of it before you go. In short, Meran 2000 does not compete with the giants of skiing, and does not pretend to. It is an honest destination, often underrated, that deserves to be (re)discovered.
