✍️ Our verdict on Roccaraso

Roccaraso offers 91 km of well-marked runs, a mid-sized ski area ideal for spending 4 to 5 days without ever doing exactly the same thing twice. The 23 lifts are generally sufficient to cope with the crowds in high season. Roccaraso's family reputation is well earned: dedicated beginner areas, a well-run childcare service, well-groomed green runs and a friendly atmosphere at the foot of the lifts. It is one of the most reassuring resorts in the Apennines for laying the foundations of skiing with children. Roccaraso's altitude (1,309 m at the bottom, 2,141 m at the top) allows it to maintain decent snow cover in midwinter. January and February are the most reliable months; in December and March, it is best to check conditions before finalising a booking. The budget for a stay in Roccaraso is clearly high: 60€ for a day lift pass, plus accommodation and mountain restaurants among the most expensive in the Alps. It is the price of excellence, but you should be aware of it before you go. In short: Roccaraso keeps its promises. It is an Apennine resort that will suit most profiles without disappointing.
