✍️ Our take on Campitello Matese

Campitello Matese is a modestly sized, little-known resort: 19 km of runs for an intimate skiing experience, far from the bustle of the big resorts. This is where people come for calm, authenticity and no queues at the lifts. Campitello Matese's family reputation is well deserved: dedicated beginner areas, well-groomed green runs and a friendly atmosphere at the foot of the lifts. It is one of the most reassuring resorts in the Apennines for getting children started on skiing. Campitello Matese's modest altitude, with the base at 1,417 m and the summit at 1,827 m, makes it sensitive to climate variations. January and February remain the safest months for optimal snow cover. Outside this window, checking the snow reports before setting off is strongly advised. The day pass at 48€ places Campitello Matese among the intermediate resorts on budget: neither cheap nor exorbitant. The quality of the ski area and facilities justifies this price for most skiers. In short, Campitello Matese does not rival the giants of skiing, and does not claim to. It is an honest destination, often underrated, that deserves to be (re)discovered.
