Practical information

Les Carroz is a ski resort in the Northern Alps range, in the Grand Massif, Haute-Savoie. The ski area stretches over 45 km of runs between 1,140 m and 2,480 m, served by 11 lifts. Day lift pass 59€ per adult.

* Price per adult for 1 day, public high-season rate. Reduced rates (online purchase, outside school holidays, families, children, seniors) are generally offered by the resort.

ℹ️ These figures relate to the Grand Massif Villages (Les Carroz – Morillon – Samoëns – Sixt) ski area, which is shared by several resorts: kilometres of runs, number of runs, lifts and lift pass are common to all of them. The values shown here and on the pages of neighbouring resorts therefore refer to the same ski area and the same lift pass, so they should not be added together.

About Les Carroz

Les Carroz is a village-resort at 1,140 m above Arâches, part of the Grand Massif (265 km). Its traditional Savoyard chalets give it an authentic charm that is rare in the Alps. A warm, family-friendly atmosphere, varied runs, and easy access from Cluses in the valley.

💡
Did you know?
The resort was founded as early as 1936, and its first drag lift, opened in 1939, was then the longest in Europe: 1,600 m long, twelve minutes to the top.
Before skiing, the valley lived on watchmaking: many watchmakers worked as subcontractors for the factories of the Arve region.
Perched on a sunny plateau facing Mont Blanc, it is one of the historic gateways to the Grand Massif (265 km of runs with Flaine, Samoëns, Morillon and Sixt).

✍️ Our view of Les Carroz

A resort on a human scale, Les Carroz focuses on warm welcome and closeness rather than impressive figures. Its 45 km of runs are ideal for a stay of 3 to 4 days, especially with family or for skiers who don't need to constantly change their playground. Les Carroz's family reputation is well earned: dedicated beginner areas, a well-run childcare service, well-groomed green runs and a friendly atmosphere at the foot of the lifts. It is one of the most reassuring resorts in the Northern Alps for laying the foundations of skiing with children. Les Carroz's altitude (1,140 m at the bottom, 2,480 m at the top) helps it maintain decent snow cover in mid-winter. January and February are the most reliable months; in December and March, it's best to check conditions before finalising a booking. A stay in Les Carroz is clearly expensive: 59€ for a day lift pass, plus accommodation and mountain restaurants among the most expensive in the Alps. It's the price of excellence, but be aware of it before you go. In short: Les Carroz is one of those rare resorts that combines a real village, a sincere family atmosphere and runs suited to everyone. Hard to get your stay wrong here.

🏔️ Le Grand Massif

Five villages of the Faucigny linked around the Grandes Platières plateau, a stone's throw from Geneva. Flaine, a flagship resort built in the 1960s by architects Marcel Breuer and Éric Boissonnas, with its raw concrete blocks and sculptures by Picasso and Dubuffet set in the mountains — you either love it or hate it, but it's unique. Below, Samoëns, Morillon, Les Carroz and Sixt have kept their chalets and church spires. The area offers one of the longest runs in the Alps, the Cascades: 14 km of descent from the Grandes Platières down to Sixt, with views over the Fer-à-Cheval cirque.
