It is France's biathlon capital: since 2013 the World Cup has stopped at the Sylvie Becaert stadium, a demountable stadium in the middle of the village, the “Monaco circuit” of biathlon, renowned for the wildest atmosphere on the world circuit. The village will host the biathlon events at the 2030 Olympics.
The village is also a historic home of farmhouse Reblochon AOP: the cheese is officially mentioned as early as 1699, in a property lease.

✍️ Our review of Le Grand-Bornand

Le Grand-Bornand offers 90 km of well-marked runs, a mid-sized ski area that's ideal for spending 4 to 5 days without ever doing exactly the same thing twice. The 24 lifts are generally sufficient to handle the flow in high season. Le Grand-Bornand's family reputation is well earned: dedicated beginner areas, a well-organised childcare service, well-groomed green runs and a good-natured atmosphere at the foot of the lifts. It is one of the most reassuring resorts in the Alpes du Nord for laying the foundations of skiing with children. Le Grand-Bornand's altitude (1,000 m at the base, 2,100 m at the top) allows it to maintain decent snow cover in mid-winter. January and February are the most reliable months; in December and March, it is worth checking conditions before finalising a booking. The 37€ day lift pass places Le Grand-Bornand among the mid-range resorts on price: neither cheap nor excessive. The quality of the ski area and facilities justifies the cost for most skiers. In short: Le Grand-Bornand is one of those rare resorts that combines a real village, a sincere family atmosphere and runs suited to everyone. It's hard to have a bad stay here.
