Based on the resort's altitude and historical snow reliability
A resort on a human scale, Großarl focuses on friendly service and convenience rather than impressive figures. Its 67.5 km of runs are ideal for a 3 to 4 day stay, especially for families or skiers who do not need to constantly change their playground. Großarl's family reputation is well deserved: dedicated beginner areas, a well-run childcare service, well-groomed green runs and a relaxed atmosphere at the foot of the lifts. It is one of the most reassuring resorts in the Northern Alps for laying the foundations of skiing with children. Großarl's altitude (924 m at the base, 2,033 m at the top) helps it maintain decent snow cover in midwinter. January and February are the most reliable months; in December and March, it is worth checking conditions before finalising a booking. A stay in Großarl is clearly expensive: 82€ for a day lift pass, plus accommodation and mountain restaurants that are among the most expensive in the Alps. It is the price of excellence, but you should be aware of it before you go. In short, Großarl lives up to its promises. A Northern Alps resort that will suit most profiles without disappointing.
