Based on the resort's altitude and historical snow reliability

✍️ Our review of Going

The Going ski area, with its 275 km of runs, offers something for every type of skier: large enough not to get bored over a week, yet compact enough to find your favourite sectors easily. The 81 lifts keep the queues short, so you can chain together descent after descent. Going's family reputation is well deserved: dedicated beginner areas, a well-organised childcare service, well-groomed green runs and a friendly atmosphere at the foot of the lifts. It is one of the most reassuring resorts in the Northern Alps for teaching children the basics of skiing. Going's moderate altitude — 773 m at the village, 1,869 m at the summit — makes it sensitive to climate variations. January and February remain the most reliable months for optimal snow cover. Outside this window, checking the snow reports before you leave is strongly recommended. A stay in Going is clearly on the expensive side: €80 for a day lift pass, plus accommodation and mountain restaurants that are among the priciest in the Alps. It is the price of excellence, but you should be aware of it before you set off. In short, Going keeps its promises. A Northern Alps resort that will suit most skiers without disappointing.
