Based on the resort's altitude and historical snow reliability
Kitzbüheler Horn is a low-key resort on a modest scale: 17 km of runs for an intimate skiing experience, far from the bustle of the big resorts. This is where people come for calm, authenticity and no queues at the lifts. Kitzbüheler Horn's family reputation is well earned: dedicated beginner areas, well-groomed green runs and a friendly atmosphere at the foot of the lifts. It is one of the most reassuring resorts in the Northern Alps for getting children started on skiing. Kitzbüheler Horn's altitude (770 m at the base, 2,000 m at the top) helps it keep a decent snow cover in mid-winter. January and February are the most reliable; in December and March, it is best to check conditions before finalising a booking. The budget for a stay at Kitzbüheler Horn is clearly high: €54 for a day lift pass, plus accommodation and mountain restaurants among the most expensive in the Alps. It is the price of excellence, but you should be aware of it before setting off. In short: Kitzbüheler Horn does not rival the giants of skiing, and doesn't pretend to. It is an honest destination, often underrated, that deserves to be (re)discovered.
