Did you know?
Lac de Vallon, a jewel of the Brevon valley, was born from a disaster: a huge landslide in 1943 blocked the valley and buried part of the hamlet, creating the lake you see today.
The commune is also home to the remains of the Chartreuse de Vallon, a monastery founded in the 12th century, and an alpine garden devoted to local flora.

Based on the resort's altitude and historical snow reliability

✍️ Our verdict on Bellevaux-Hirmentaz

Bellevaux-Hirmentaz is a discreet resort on a modest scale: 25 km of runs for an intimate skiing experience, far from the bustle of the big resorts. This is where people come for calm, authenticity and no queues at the lifts. Bellevaux-Hirmentaz's family reputation is well deserved: dedicated beginner areas, a well-run childcare service, well-groomed green runs and a friendly atmosphere at the foot of the lifts. It is one of the most reassuring resorts in the Northern Alps for learning to ski with children. Bellevaux-Hirmentaz's modest altitude, starting at 1,100 m and peaking at 1,607 m, makes it sensitive to climate variations. January and February remain the most reliable months for optimal snow cover. Outside this window, it is strongly advisable to check the snow reports before setting off. The €26 day lift pass remains reasonable for the quality of the ski area on offer. Counting accommodation, skiing and meals, Bellevaux-Hirmentaz suits those who want to enjoy a lovely week without the final bill knocking them off their chair. In short: Bellevaux-Hirmentaz is one of those rare resorts that combines a real village, a sincere family atmosphere and runs suited to everyone. It's hard to have a bad stay here.
