Vallter 2000 is the easternmost resort in the Pyrenees, above Setcases in the Ripollès. It occupies the Ulldeter glacial cirque, where the Ter river rises, below the Bastiments peak. Its 14 km of runs, between 1,959 and 2,535 m, suit families and intermediate skiers in particular. Exposed to storms coming in from the Mediterranean, it sometimes receives very heavy snowfalls. The climb from Setcases is also a regular finish for the Tour de Catalunya cycle race.

Based on the resort's altitude and historical snow reliability
Vallter 2000 is a modest, low-key resort — 14 km of runs for an intimate skiing experience, far from the bustle of the big resorts. This is where people come for calm, authenticity and no queues at the lifts. Vallter 2000's family reputation is well earned: dedicated beginner areas, well-groomed green runs and a friendly atmosphere at the foot of the lifts. It is one of the most reassuring resorts in the Pyrenees for getting children started on skiing. With a summit at 2,535 m and a village at 1,959 m, Vallter 2000's snow reliability is generally dependable from January to the end of March. A few exceptionally mild winters can create tension early in the season, but the situation recovers quickly with the first serious snowfalls. The day lift pass at 35€ remains reasonable for the quality of the ski area on offer. Counting accommodation, skiing and meals, Vallter 2000 suits those who want a good week without the bill leaving them reaching for the arm of their chair. In short: Vallter 2000 does not compete with the giants of skiing, and does not pretend to. It is an honest destination, often underrated, that deserves to be (re)discovered.
