Did you know?
In the 1960s, this village of 250 inhabitants, emptied by rural exodus, was saved by an idea from mayor Paul Samson, nicknamed “the madman of the Capcir”: build a ski resort whose runs would reach the foot of the church steeple. He went as far as putting the communal forest up as collateral to secure the funding.
The first chairlift opened in January 1964; with no room in the only hotel, the first visitors slept in villagers' barns.

✍️ Our verdict on Les Angles

A resort with a human scale, Les Angles focuses on the quality of its welcome and its closeness rather than on impressive figures. Its 55 km of runs are a perfect fit for a stay of 3 to 4 days, especially with family or for skiers who don't need to constantly renew their playground. Les Angles' family reputation is well deserved: dedicated beginner areas, a well-organised childcare service, well-groomed green runs and a friendly atmosphere at the foot of the lifts. It is one of the most reassuring resorts in the Pyrenees for laying the foundations of skiing with children. The altitude of Les Angles (1,600 m at the bottom, 2,400 m at the top) allows it to maintain decent snow cover through the middle of winter. January and February are the most reliable months; in December and March, it is wise to check conditions before finalising a booking. The day lift pass at 47€ places Les Angles among the intermediate resorts on budget: neither cheap nor exorbitant. The quality of the ski area and its facilities justifies this price for most skiers. In short: Les Angles keeps its promises. A Pyrenean resort that will suit most profiles without disappointing.
