✍️ Our verdict on Monte Verena

Monte Verena is a low-key resort on a modest scale: 15 km of runs for an intimate skiing experience, far from the bustle of the big resorts. This is where people come for calm, authenticity and no queues at the lifts. Monte Verena's reputation as a family resort is well deserved: dedicated beginner areas, well-groomed green runs and a friendly atmosphere at the foot of the lifts. It is one of the most reassuring resorts in the Northern Alps for laying the foundations of skiing with children. Monte Verena's altitude (1,640 m at the base, 2,020 m at the top) helps it maintain decent snow cover in midwinter. January and February are the most reliable months; in December and March, it is worth checking conditions before finalising a booking. At 45€, the day lift pass places Monte Verena among the mid-range resorts on budget: neither cheap nor exorbitant. The quality of the ski area and its facilities justifies this price for most skiers. In short: Monte Verena does not rival the giants of skiing, and does not claim to. It is an honest destination, often underrated, that deserves to be (re)discovered.
