Based on the resort's altitude and historical snow reliability
A human-scale resort, Madesimo focuses on the quality of its welcome and its closeness rather than on impressive figures. Its 36 km of runs are ideal for a 3 to 4 day stay, especially for families or skiers who don't need to constantly change their playground. Madesimo's family reputation is well deserved: dedicated beginner areas, well-groomed green runs and a friendly atmosphere at the foot of the lifts. It is one of the most reassuring resorts in the Northern Alps for laying the foundations of skiing with children. With a summit at 2,948 m and a village at 1,550 m, snow reliability at Madesimo is generally dependable from January to the end of March. A few exceptionally mild winters can create tension early in the season, but the situation recovers quickly once the first serious snowfalls arrive. The cost of a stay at Madesimo is clearly high: €57 for a day lift pass, plus accommodation and mountain restaurants that are among the most expensive in the Alps. It's the price of excellence, but it's worth being aware of it before you go. In short: Madesimo doesn't compete with the giants of skiing, and doesn't pretend to. It's an honest destination, often underrated, that deserves to be (re)discovered.
