Based on the resort's altitude and historical snow reliability
Golm is a modestly sized, low-key resort: 26.7 km of runs for an intimate skiing experience, far from the bustle of the big resorts. This is where people come for calm, authenticity and no queues at the lifts. Golm's family reputation is well deserved: dedicated beginner areas, well-groomed green runs and a friendly atmosphere at the foot of the lifts. It is one of the most reassuring resorts in the Northern Alps for teaching children the basics of skiing. Golm's altitude (650 m at the bottom, 2,100 m at the top) helps it maintain decent snow cover through the depths of winter. January and February are the most reliable months; in December and March, it is wise to check conditions before finalising a booking. A stay in Golm is clearly on the expensive side: €64 for a day lift pass, plus accommodation and mountain restaurants that are among the priciest in the Alps. It is the price of excellence, but you should be aware of it before you set off. In short, Golm does not rival the giants of skiing and does not pretend to. It is an honest destination, often underestimated, that deserves to be (re)discovered.
