Based on the resort's altitude and historical snow reliability
Fügen – Spieljoch is a modestly sized, little-known resort — 20.5 km of runs for an intimate skiing experience, far from the bustle of the big resorts. This is where people come for calm, authenticity and no queues at the lifts. Fügen – Spieljoch's family reputation is well deserved: dedicated beginner areas, well-groomed green runs and a friendly atmosphere at the foot of the lifts. It is one of the most reassuring resorts in the Northern Alps for laying the foundations of skiing with children. Fügen – Spieljoch's altitude (610 m at the base, 2,054 m at the top) allows it to maintain decent snow cover in the depths of winter. January and February are the most reliable months; in December and March, it is best to check the conditions before finalising a booking. The budget for a stay at Fügen – Spieljoch is clearly high: €62 for a day lift pass, plus accommodation and mountain restaurants that are among the most expensive in the Alps. It is the price of excellence — but it is worth being aware of it before you go. In short: Fügen – Spieljoch does not rival the giants of skiing, and does not pretend to. It is an honest, often underrated destination that deserves to be (re)discovered.
