Based on the resort's altitude and historical snow reliability
A resort on a human scale, Elm focuses on the quality of its welcome and its closeness rather than on impressive figures. Its 40 km of runs are well suited to a stay of 3 to 4 days, especially for families or skiers who don't need to constantly change their playground. Elm's family reputation is well deserved: dedicated beginner areas, a well-organised childcare service, well-maintained green runs and a friendly atmosphere at the foot of the lifts. It is one of the most reassuring resorts in the Northern Alps for laying the foundations of skiing with children. Elm's altitude (1,020 m at the bottom, 2,105 m at the top) helps it maintain decent snow cover in the middle of winter. January and February are the most reliable months; in December and March, it is worth checking conditions before finalising a booking. Staying in Elm is clearly expensive: the day lift pass costs 62€, on top of accommodation and mountain restaurants that are among the most expensive in the Alps. It's the price of excellence, but you need to be aware of it before you go. In short, Elm does not rival the giants of skiing, and does not pretend to. It is an honest destination, often underrated, that deserves to be (re)discovered.
