Based on the resort's altitude and historical snow reliability
Cerkno is a small, low-key resort with 18 km of runs, offering an intimate skiing experience far from the bustle of the big resorts. This is where people come for calm, authenticity and no queues at the lifts at all. Cerkno's family reputation is well deserved: dedicated beginner areas, well-groomed green runs and a friendly atmosphere at the foot of the lifts. It is one of the most reassuring mid-mountain resorts for laying the foundations of skiing with children. The moderate altitude of Cerkno, from 935 m at the base to 1,287 m at the top, makes it sensitive to climate variations. January and February remain the safest months for optimal snow cover. Outside this window, checking the snow reports before setting off is strongly recommended. At 43€, the day lift pass places Cerkno among the mid-range resorts in terms of price: neither cheap nor exorbitant. The quality of the ski area and its facilities justifies this price for most skiers. In short: Cerkno does not rival the giants of skiing, and does not pretend to. It is an honest destination, often underrated, that deserves to be discovered (or rediscovered).
