✍️ Our verdict on Bellwald

Bellwald is a low-key resort on a modest scale: 20 km of runs for an intimate skiing experience, far from the bustle of the big resorts. This is where you come for calm, authenticity and no queues at the lifts. Bellwald's family reputation is well earned: dedicated beginner areas, well-groomed green runs and a good-natured atmosphere at the foot of the lifts. It is one of the most reassuring resorts in the Northern Alps for laying the foundations of skiing with children. With a summit at 2,558 m and a village at 1,600 m, snow reliability at Bellwald is generally dependable from January to the end of March. A few exceptionally mild winters can create tension early in the season, but the situation recovers quickly once serious snowfalls arrive. A stay in Bellwald is clearly expensive: 58€ for a day lift pass, plus accommodation and mountain restaurants among the most expensive in the Alps. It's the price of excellence, but be aware of it before you go. In short, Bellwald does not rival the giants of skiing and does not pretend to. It is an honest, often underrated destination that deserves to be (re)discovered.
