Based on the resort's altitude and historical snow reliability
A resort on a human scale, Axamer Lizum focuses on the quality of its welcome and its closeness rather than impressive figures. Its 41 km of runs are ideal for a stay of 3 to 4 days, especially for families or skiers who don't need to constantly change their playground. Challenging terrain reigns supreme at Axamer Lizum: with 43 black runs and 39 red runs on offer, experienced skiers will find plenty to test themselves. Off-piste and freeride are practised here in often excellent conditions, thanks to the altitude and the orientation of the slopes. Axamer Lizum's altitude (1,560 m at the bottom, 2,340 m at the top) allows it to maintain decent snow cover in the depths of winter. January and February are the most reliable months; in December and March, it's best to check conditions before finalising a booking. A stay in Axamer Lizum is clearly expensive: a day lift pass costs 63€, on top of accommodation and mountain restaurants that are among the most expensive in the Alps. It's the price of excellence, but you should be aware of it before setting off. In short, Axamer Lizum doesn't rival the giants of skiing but doesn't pretend to. It's an honest destination, often underrated, that deserves to be (re)discovered.
