Based on the resort's altitude and historical snow reliability
Schlick 2000 is a modest, low-key resort — 25 km of runs for an intimate skiing experience, far from the bustle of the big resorts. This is where you come for calm, authenticity and no queues at the lifts. Schladming's family reputation is well deserved, and the same can be said of Schlick 2000: dedicated beginner areas, well-groomed green runs and a friendly atmosphere at the foot of the lifts. It is one of the most reassuring resorts in the Northern Alps for laying the foundations of skiing with children. Schlick 2000's altitude (1,000 m at the bottom, 2,240 m at the top) allows it to maintain decent snow reliability in the depths of winter. January and February are the most reliable months; in December and March, it is worth checking conditions before finalising a booking. The budget for a stay in Schlick 2000 is clearly high: 62€ for a day lift pass, plus accommodation and mountain restaurants among the most expensive in the Alps. It is the price of excellence — but you should be aware of it before setting off. In short: Schlick 2000 does not compete with the giants of skiing, and does not pretend to. It is an honest destination, often underrated, that is worth (re)discovering.
