✍️ Our verdict on Nordkette

Nordkette is a small, low-key resort with 13.9 km of runs for an intimate skiing experience, far from the bustle of the big resorts. This is where people come for calm, authenticity and no queues at the lifts. Nordkette has kept the identity of an authentic mountain village, far from the concrete resorts of the 1970s. People come here for the clean air, the untouched landscapes and a friendly atmosphere that stands in contrast to the industrialised skiing of some large ski areas. Nordkette's altitude (860 m at the base, 2,256 m at the top) helps it maintain decent snow cover in mid-winter. January and February are the most reliable months; in December and March, it's worth checking conditions before finalising a booking. Budgeting for a stay in Nordkette is clearly on the high side: 56€ for a day lift pass, plus accommodation and mountain restaurants among the most expensive in the Alps. That's the price of excellence, but it's worth being aware of it before you go. In short: Nordkette doesn't compete with the giants of skiing and doesn't pretend to. It's an honest, often underrated destination that deserves to be (re)discovered.
