ℹ️ These figures refer to the Alpe d'Huez Grand Domaine ski area, which is shared by several resorts: kilometres of runs, number of runs, lifts and lift pass are common to all of them. The values shown here and on the pages of neighbouring resorts therefore refer to the same ski area and the same lift pass: they are not added together.

Based on the resort's altitude and historical snow reliability
A resort on a human scale, Auris-en-Oisans relies on the quality of its welcome and its closeness rather than impressive figures. Its 45 km of runs suit a 3 to 4 day stay perfectly, especially for families or skiers who don't need to constantly renew their playground. Auris-en-Oisans's family reputation is well deserved: dedicated beginner areas, well-groomed green runs and a friendly atmosphere at the foot of the lifts. It is one of the most reassuring resorts in the Northern Alps for laying the foundations of skiing with children. The altitude of Auris-en-Oisans (1,600 m at the base, 2,176 m at the top) allows it to maintain decent snow cover in the depths of winter. January and February are the most reliable; in December and March, it is best to check conditions before finalising a booking. At €45, the day lift pass places Auris-en-Oisans among the mid-range resorts on budget — neither cheap nor exorbitant. The quality of the ski area and facilities justifies the price for most skiers. In short: Auris-en-Oisans doesn't rival the giants of skiing, and doesn't claim to. It is an honest destination, often underrated, that deserves to be (re)discovered.
🏔️ Alpe d'Huez Grand Domaine Ski
L'Alpe d'Huez calls itself the Île au Soleil (Sun Island), and it lives up to the name: 300 days of sunshine a year on a south-facing plateau at 1,860m. The ski area climbs to the Pic Blanc at 3,330m, from which the Sarenne runs: 16 km of descent, the longest black run in Europe, reaching the valley floor through wild gorge scenery. Around the main resort are Auris, Oz, Vaujany and Villard-Reculas, quieter and often cheaper villages, all linked. The 21 hairpin bends of the legendary Tour de France climb are just below.
