Based on the resort's altitude and historical snow reliability

✍️ Our verdict on Wasserngrat (Gstaad)

Wasserngrat (Gstaad) is a small, low-key resort — 10 km of runs for an intimate skiing experience, far from the bustle of the big resorts. This is where you come for calm, authenticity and no queues at the lifts. Technical terrain is king at Wasserngrat (Gstaad): with 20 black runs and 80 red runs on the programme, confident skiers will find plenty to challenge them. Off-piste and freeride are practised here in often excellent conditions, thanks to the altitude and the exposure of the slopes. The modest altitude of Wasserngrat (Gstaad) — starting at 1,275 m and topping out at 1,940 m — makes it sensitive to weather variations. January and February remain the most reliable months for optimal snow cover. Outside this window, checking the snow reports before you leave is strongly advised. The budget for a stay in Wasserngrat (Gstaad) is clearly high: 99€ for a day lift pass, plus accommodation and mountain restaurants that are among the most expensive in the Alps. It's the price of excellence — but you should be aware of it before you go. In short: Wasserngrat (Gstaad) doesn't rival the giants of skiing, and doesn't pretend to. It's an honest destination, often underrated, that deserves to be (re)discovered.
