Based on the resort's altitude and historical snow reliability
Visperterminen is a low-key resort on a modest scale — 20 km of runs for an intimate skiing experience, far from the bustle of the big resorts. This is where you come for calm, authenticity and no queues at the lifts. The terrain is the main draw at Visperterminen: with 22 black runs and 61 red runs on offer, confident skiers will find plenty to challenge them. Off-piste and freeride are practised in often excellent conditions thanks to the altitude and the aspect of the slopes. Visperterminen's altitude (1,381 m at the bottom, 2,309 m at the top) allows it to maintain decent snow cover in midwinter. January and February are the most reliable months; in December and March, it is best to check conditions before finalising a booking. The budget for a stay in Visperterminen is clearly high: 56€ for a day lift pass, plus accommodation and mountain restaurants that are among the most expensive in the Alps. It is the price of excellence — but be aware of it before you go. In short: Visperterminen doesn't compete with the giants of skiing, and doesn't pretend to. It is an honest destination, often underrated, that deserves to be (re)discovered.
