⚠️ Tavascan's alpine runs remained closed all through winter 2025/2026, as the only chairlift could not be serviced in time; only the beginners' run at the foot of the resort was open. At the end of summer 2026, the reopening of alpine skiing was still unconfirmed — check before any stay. Tavascan is a small resort at Pleta del Prat, at 1,750 m, in the Alt Pirineu natural park. First opened for cross-country skiing in the early 1990s, it added alpine skiing in 1998 around a chairlift, with 7 km of runs up to 2,250 m. Its 15 km Nordic area remains its main strength.

Based on the resort's altitude and historical snow reliability
Tavascan is a modest, confidential resort — 7 km of runs for an intimate skiing experience, far from the bustle of the big resorts. This is where people come for calm, authenticity and lift queues that simply don't exist. Tavascan's family reputation is well earned: dedicated beginner areas, well-groomed green runs and a friendly atmosphere at the foot of the lifts. It is one of the most reassuring resorts in the Pyrenees for laying the foundations of skiing with children. Tavascan's altitude (1,750 m at the base, 2,250 m at the top) helps it keep reasonable snow cover through midwinter. January and February are the most reliable; in December and March, it's best to check conditions before finalising a booking. With a day lift pass at just €22, Tavascan is one of the most affordable destinations in Spain. For families on a careful budget, or skiers who want to fit in plenty of outings without breaking the bank, it's an honest and often overlooked address. In short: Tavascan doesn't compete with the giants of skiing, and doesn't pretend to. It's an honest, often underrated destination that's well worth (re)discovering.
