✍️ Our take on Rifflsee

Rifflsee is a modestly sized, little-known resort: 26 km of runs for an intimate skiing experience, far from the bustle of the big resorts. This is where people come for calm, authenticity and lift queues that barely exist. Rifflsee's family reputation is well deserved: dedicated beginner areas, well-groomed green runs and a friendly atmosphere at the foot of the lifts. It is one of the most reassuring resorts in the Northern Alps for laying the foundations of skiing with children. With a summit at 2,800 m and a village at 1,640 m, Rifflsee's snow cover is generally reliable from January to the end of March. A few exceptionally mild winters can cause tension early in the season, but the situation recovers quickly with the first substantial snowfalls. The budget for a stay in Rifflsee is clearly high: 77€ for a day lift pass, plus accommodation and mountain restaurants that are among the most expensive in the Alps. It's the price of excellence, but be aware of it before you go. In short: Rifflsee doesn't rival the ski giants, and doesn't pretend to. It's an honest, often underrated destination that deserves to be (re)discovered.
