Based on the resort's altitude and historical snow reliability

✍️ Our verdict on Piancavallo

Piancavallo is a low-key resort on a modest scale: 13 km of runs for an intimate skiing experience, far from the bustle of the big resorts. This is where people come for calm, authenticity and no queues at the lifts. Piancavallo has kept an authentic mountain village identity, far from the concrete resorts of the 1970s. Here, people come for the clean air, the unspoiled landscapes and a friendly atmosphere that stands apart from the industrialisation of skiing in some large ski areas. Piancavallo's modest altitude, starting at 1,245 m and rising to 1,865 m, makes it sensitive to climate variations. January and February remain the safest months for optimal snow cover. Outside this window, checking the snow reports before you leave is strongly recommended. At 44€, the day lift pass places Piancavallo among the mid-range resorts on budget: neither cheap nor exorbitant. The quality of the ski area and facilities justifies the price for most skiers. In short, Piancavallo doesn't rival the giants of skiing, and doesn't claim to. It's an honest destination, often underrated, that deserves to be (re)discovered.
