✍️ Our verdict on Forni di Sopra

Forni di Sopra is a low-key resort on a modest scale: 13 km of runs for an intimate skiing experience, far from the bustle of the big resorts. This is where people come for calm, authenticity and no queues at the lifts. Forni di Sopra has managed to preserve the identity of an authentic mountain village, far from the concrete resorts of the 1970s. People come here for the clean air, the unspoilt landscapes and a human atmosphere that stands apart from the industrialisation of skiing in some large ski areas. Forni di Sopra's altitude (882 m at the base, 2,066 m at the top) helps it keep a decent snow cover in midwinter. January and February are the most reliable months; in December and March, it is worth checking conditions before finalising a booking. The day lift pass at 44€ places Forni di Sopra among the intermediate resorts on budget: neither cheap nor exorbitant. The quality of the ski area and facilities justifies this price for most skiers. In short, Forni di Sopra does not rival the ski giants, and does not pretend to. It is an honest destination, often underrated, that deserves to be (re)discovered.
